Hire technology is coming to muncie central high school
What is Hire Technology? Here is a paragraph I found on their website that could help in answering that question.
"Hire Technology is a two-year turn-key Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics program delivered through Indiana high schools and career centers. The program facilitates student achievement by including contextualized math and science concepts to reinforce key academic STEM concepts while promoting the development of the applied problem-solving skills demanded by AML industry members."
You can find more information about this program at:
http://www.conexusindiana.com/hire
Miss Sherrow and I have been assigned to attend the training this summer down at Pike High School in Indianapolis. There, we should obtain the needed training to educate the 40+ students that have already signed up for the course. We are extremely excited and we look forward to this new challenge.

eNGINEERING DEPARTMENTS
STUDENT OF THE MONTH!!
Miss. Kelby Stallings!!!
Kelby is a freshman engineering student currently enrolled in the Introduction to Engineering Design course. Her hobbies include hanging out with friends, studying, and learning more about String Theory. I'm just joking about the String Theory, but come on, what freshman high school student doesn't want to learn more about it?

Holiday Craft fair @ muncie central
This past weekend the Engineering Department and a few members of the Bearcat Engineering Club, set up a booth at the Muncie Central Holiday Craft Fair. The purpose was to raise money for both the department and the club. The club members were Jordan Winters, Rogan Long and Nathan Neal. Their responsibility was to deal with all the personalization (laser engraving) of the items the customers bought. Overall, we raised over $100 for the department and club.

Celebrate Excellence 2014!!!!
Celebrate Excellence was a success this year. Our department was able to draw a lot of interest from not only other teachers, but parents and some future Bearcat Engineers! These students not only helped during the showcase, they also stuck around to help with the clean up. As a teacher, I was very proud of how they represented the Muncie Central High School Project Lead the Way Dept.
Below are a few pictures that I took that night. On a side note, I was not able to attend the entire event because of a prior engagement. Search through the photos and you see what I was busy doing...

Update from The National Project Lead the Way
New! Computer Science and Software Engineering Open doors in any career with computer science! In CSE, students create apps for mobile devices, automate tasks in a variety of languages, and find patterns in data. Students collaborate to create and present solutions that can improve people’s lives, and weigh the ethical and societal issues of how computing and connectivity are changing the world. *CSE is also the first course in PLTW's Computer Science program. Students will be able to count CSE as both the third course of PLTW Engineering and the first course of PLTW Computer Science if they decide to pursue and complete two programs of study.
